The GTC-600 telescopic boom crawler crane was awarded the Silver LLEAP award in the crane category. OPTI-WIDTH™, Tadano’s system for asymmetric track extension, was awarded the Silver LLEAP award for OEM Developed feature. Tadano Mantis was the only mobile crane manufacturer to win a LLEAP (Leadership in Lifting Equipment and Aerial Platforms) Award in 2017.
GTC-600 (66 US ton capacity)
The Tadano Mantis GTC-600 is the third of the new design GTC-Series telescopic boom crawler cranes. The GTC Series follows the concept to design and build a telescopic boom crawler crane that meets the requirements of the growing Tadano Mantis core markets of power transmission, bridge and civil, and foundation construction while expanding the broader appeal of the crane towards lift-based markets. The GTC-600 design project was managed by Tadano Mantis and included collaboration with Tadano, Ltd. in developing the purpose-designed, Tadano-built telescopic boom and the integration of Tadano winches, jib, hydraulic cylinders, AML-C Rated Capacity Indicator and Hello-Net telematics.
The full power, 4-section 37.7ft – 118.1ft (11.5 m – 36.0 m) hydraulic boom is designed to perform exceptionally well for lift work, while also being capable of out-of-level, pick-and-carry, and foundation work. The round boom is manufactured specifically for the Tadano Mantis telescopic boom crawler cranes by Tadano Japan.
OPTI-WIDTH™ – OPTIMAL lifting performance at any track WIDTH
The powerful and user friendly Tadano AML-C Rated Capacity Indicator has afforded the capability of asymmetrical outrigger configurations on Tadano rough terrain cranes for many years. The global development coordination within the Tadano Group companies has brought this asymmetrical setup technology to the telescopic boom crawler crane product segment. OPTI-WIDTH™ is Tadano’s trade name for asymmetrical track positioning on the GTC Series of telescopic boom crawler cranes. OPTI-WIDTH™ is standard on all Tadano Mantis GTC-600 and GTC-800 telescopic boom crawler cranes.
Tadano Mantis GTC-Series telescopic boom crawler cranes with OPTI-WIDTH™ are the only cranes on the market capable of limitless combinations of symmetrical and asymmetrical track width setups. Tadano Mantis telescopic boom crawler cranes do not require pinning of the track frames in fixed width positions, so it is ideal for the crane user to be able to position the track width optimally for their lift work and to have the proper load charts automatically selected by the AML-C system. OPTI-WIDTH™ load charts for asymmetrically positioned tracks have significant lifting capacity enhancements when compared to those for symmetrical tracks.
A comparison of the mid-extension track width of the Tadano Mantis GTC-800 with a symmetrical mid-mid track position vs. an asymmetrical min-max track position [at the same operating width] shows capacities up to 67% higher over the max extension track side when compared to the symmetrical over side capacity. OPTI-WIDTH™ incorporates zoned load charts, rotational position sensing, and function soft stops to ensure that the crane operator cannot swing with a load into a zone where the crane will be out of capacity.
The Tadano AML-C Rated Capacity Indicator detects track position using robust, non-contacting, embedded position sensors. Zone optimized load charts are automatically selected by the AML-C based on the position of each track. Tracks can be extended or retracted to any width and are held in position without the use of pins to fix track width.
The OPTI-WIDTH™ feature on the Tadano Mantis GTC-600 and GTC-800 adds a new dimension to the lifting capabilities of these cranes allowing the crane operator to achieve OPTIMAL lifting performance at any track WIDTH.
